“ My friends father dropped me off 3 of the biggest Zeppole I've ever seen on 2/7/25. These are hands down the best Zeppole I've ever tasted. Light & flaky, stuffed with the most amazing vanilla creme ever. Like me you'll probably cut it in half...only to go back for the other half less than 2 minutes later. God bless Roccos ”
“ First time coming to this bakery. I was not disappointed. Ordered a slice of pizza with chicken, broccoli, eggplant, and spinach on it. It was delicious. Also got some Italian cookies, strawberry cheesecake, and a loaf of Italian bread. Everything was freshly made and you could tell. Definitely would recommend this place. Service was great too. ”
“ Where has this place been all my life! **CASH ONLY, but ATM on site They have a variety of Italian pies, cakes, pastries, Italian cookies, breads, and pizza slices!! The Italian bread was soo delicious, soft on the inside, crispy crust! The pizza was more of a deep dish style pizza. We got pepperoni and their special; broccoli, spinach, sausage and chicken. Both were very good. They offer to heat it up for you, or take home from the pan and heat up yourself. We also got some cookies and a cinnamon elephant ear for treats. They were probably some of the best Italian cookies I've had! ”
“ The best lobster tail around. Crunchy pastry generously filled with cannoli filling. Fresh and flaky. Plenty of other delicious items available and fresh rolls at an affordable price. 6 rolls, 1 lobster tail, 1 cannoli for barely over $10 What a gem! ”
“ Rocco's is a wonderful and friendly local bakery located In South Meriden CT. The prices are reasonable. Cash only (ATM machine inside). They carry pies, cookies, pastries, cakes, breads, etc. The service is great- Dorothy is super friendly. This is a grab and go place. There is no area to sit down with your treats and eat. The chocolate lemon pie is a favorite. They sell individual pieces of almond, tiramisu, etc. Everything we've purchased has been delicious. This is the only specialty bakery in the area. Highly recommend! ”
“ After seeing Rocco's content (and specifically about their lemon chocolate "pie" dessert) on Instagram, I added Rocco's to my Try List. I visited last weekend, and Rocco's is now one of my favorite Italian style bakeries within 30 minutes of home. Rocco's is small, but fights well above its weight class. The display case really captured my attention. My eyes were drawn to their mountains of mini stuffed breads, their cut-above Italian cookies, pastries, pies, bars, cupcakes and slices of cake. Everything I tasted was very good. The pignoil cookie had perfect texture and a hint of cinnamon. The chocolate peanut butter cookie was very good. The toasted almond dessert was mildly sweet and very fresh. The lemon blueberry cheesecake was delicious. I know Rocco's is famous for the lemon chocolate pie. I bought an individual serving of it. Each component of it was terrific. The lemon custard layer in particular was amazing. I didn't love the lemon and chocolate icing flavors together though. This wasn't a problem, because the layers are separate and I just kept those flavors separate when I took bites. The mini stuffed breads were terrific too. The spinach and sausage was my favorite, but they're all sure to please crowds. Service was very friendly. Be warned that they're cash only. But hit an ATM, and check out Rocco's. Even if you have to drive a distance. Five Stars ”
“ We were thrilled when Rocco's reappeared because no one makes a chicola bread that compares. On a recent Sunday morning we stopped by and arrived at just the right time, as a line out the door soon formed behind us. I was hoping to get a couple of the mini chicola breads, but they were sold out so I opted to get the large one. We also purchased some assorted sweets including their delicious danish. So happy to still have Rocco's as an option. ”
“ I love a good Italian bakery, and there are few in New Haven that I really enjoy. My favorite has been Rocco's. I was so disappointed when I heard they were closing, but now that they have relocated in Meriden which is much closer for me I could not be happier. They have such a large assortment of baked goods, and pastries. For me it is so hard to choose. I want everything. Rocco's brings back a lot of childhood memories of the Italian baked goods, and pastries that I grew up on. Prices here are very reasonable. Just remember they only accept cash. ”
“ Rocco's Village Pastry Shop & Bakery is an Italian pastry bakery that opened in Meriden, Connecticut in July 2023. It was founded by husband and wife Ferdinando and Dorothy DiBenedetto. The bakery is continuing the legacy of another Italian pastry bakery, Rocco's Bakery, which was founded in New Haven by Ferdinando's Italian immigrant parents Antonio "Tony" and Anna in 1982. The elder DiBenedettos served the New Haven community for over 40 years. This past June they made the difficult decision to close their bakery, citing Tony's health issues, their advanced age, their oven requiring expensive repairs, and an overall desire to retire. Just weeks later, the younger DiBenedettos opened the new bakery in Meriden. This location had originally been acquired by Tony and Anna in 1996 and used as a commercial bakery before they quietly ceased operations in 2008. Ownership of the property transferred to Ferdinando in 2016. Like the old Rocco's, the new bakery serves classic Italian pastries, cakes, pies and breads. My family and I recently stopped at the new Rocco's. I was a patron at the old Rocco's since I was a little boy. I was devastated when I heard that they were closing, but ecstatic when I found out that Ferdinando and Dorothy were opening a new bakery. When we walked inside, all of our favorite baked goods from the old bakery were here: Italian cookies, biscotti, freselles, taralli, danishes, cannoli, sfoglietelle, tiramisu, cinnamon rolls, Italian breads, stuffed breads, and various types of cakes and pies. The one item I was most looking forward to was their Chocolate Lemon Pie. It's my favorite kind of pie and in my opinion Rocco's always made the best one. In addition to the pie, we also purchased a loaf of Italian bread and a pound of their assorted Christmas cookies. We are so happy that the legacy of the DiBenedetto Family lives on! ”
“ Rocco's bakery is alive and fantastic! 121 Main St, Meriden, Connecticut, 06451 Chocolate Lemon Pie, Chiccola Bread, Zeppolas, stuffed breads it doesn't matter what you go there for; you will leave with more stuff because it all looks, smells and tastes so good. ”
